The Social Security Foundation |

Why We're Here:
American wage-earners and their employers continue to pay more into the system than is required to sustain current benefits, creating a surplus that Congress spends — without regard for a method or means to repay it. In ten years or less, the demographic evolution of the American population will exhaust the surplus. Then what? The vision of the Social Security Foundation is to fix Social Security for our children, grandchildren and future generations so that the economic viability of the nation they inherit is assured and working people will enjoy greater prosperity in the future. Here's what we plan to do: The Social Security Foundation is a single purpose, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that focuses exclusively on Social Security issues, policies, research, education and reform. We will serve as the "Big Tent" or principal organization/coalition to address the crises of Social Security — and nothing else! The only way to repair the system is with personal accounts that hold real assets such as bank accounts or stocks or bonds. Here's what could happen:
Did you know?
Elected officials must fix Social Security without cutting benefits or raising payroll taxes or retirement age. Why... are our senators and representatives double dipping with both personal retirement accounts AND Social Security? Why... have members of Congress established their own personal retirement accounts, but are against them for us? Why... do our senators and representatiaves have a better deal than the people who elected them? Why... why have they taken our hard earned money from the Social Security Trust Fund and used it to pay for pet projects, leaving us, our children and grandchildren with a bankrupt Social Security system? |
